The Soldiers Duty
The Soldiers Duty
Ok, you say, that doesn’t sound good – but what does that have to do with US? Good question. Remember, as a Christian, you carry Heaven with you. With you in the world, you are supposed to return the world around you into Heaven on Earth. Anytime the circumstances that surround us do NOT match what the Word says, then we are supposed to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
You say, “Well, that sounds like a fantastic idea – but how”. The answer is simple: we are to use the authority that Jesus Christ has granted us and the weapons that He has given us and FORCE the world around us to conform. Go back to the great commission – Jesus said that “All authority has been given to me in heaven and ON EARTH.” Jesus was recognizing that He had authority to make things change. So, what about us?
20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
Here, Jesus clearly said “the glory” – or authority – “that you gave ME I have given THEM” – that means you. When we speaking something “in the name of Jesus” we are LITTERALLY speaking in the NAME of Jesus. We speak FOR JESUS. When we speak, circumstances and situations around us have to react as though JESUS himself were speaking them.
Now, before you go crazy and say “Wow – well I am going to just go out and do whatever I want” – understand that your authority is LIMITED – just as the authority of Jesus was limited. What is it limited to? Well, it is limited to two things:
Anything that has been defined as a promise for US or for our household or for our family are available.
Anything that the Holy Spirit tells you to do.
Consider what Jesus said:
Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. 20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
Jesus was limited to what He saw the Father do. We are ALSO limited to what the Holy Spirit tells us to do. Let me explain a bit more fully. To YOU (and to your family), you have authority – for you ARE IN the kingdom of Heaven. But to those around you, your authority is limited to those circumstances were the Spirit gives you direction.
